Is delivery really more expensive than before?

It is safe to say that when the COVID-19 pandemic, many people reduced the idle time in the kitchen and helped restaurants by ordering food. The downside of order delivery is that it comes with various fees and higher menu prices, and these fees add up to you.
No, your bank account will not deceive you. Delivery does cost more than it used to, and your wallet has suffered a major blow in the past year or so. The Wall Street Journal’s recent report on this matter indicated that the increase in revenue has caused delivery platforms such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and Postmates to see more than just an increase in orders at home in 2020. This is also because we pay more for orders than before the pandemic.
The Wall Street Journal tested the theory of delivery costs by placing three identical orders from three stores in Philadelphia, DogDash, Grubhub and Postmates restaurants in 2019 and 2021. This year, the food costs and service fees for these three orders have all increased. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the price of the delivery fee. The entire price remains the same-probably because Philadelphia has a cap on how much the delivery app can charge restaurants.
So, what causes the price of the delivery order to soar, if the demand does not increase or the delivery cost does not increase? According to the report, in some cases, this is the result of restaurants merely raising prices. For example, in Chipotle, the cost of delivering food increased by approximately 17% compared to in-store orders. The paper also hinted that the high cost may be your favorite restaurant, in order to offset the commission fee for delivering the application.
If you want, the reward of all this is that luxury comes at a price. If you want someone else to cook and deliver it to you by hand, you will have to pay in cash. If you want to save money and curb unnecessary expenses, you may want to consider reducing your shipping habits. This does not mean that you still cannot eat out. This just means that you may want to order directly at the restaurant (avoid paying platform fees), pick up food or dine at the restaurant instead of bringing your own meals.
